The Resort Series

The Resort Series is our collection of guides to independent and owner-led hotels, resorts and retreats — places with a sense of origin, a point of view and people who genuinely care. Each guide tells the story behind the property: who built it, what the rooms and kitchens are like, when to go and who it suits. Then it shows readers how to book directly.

Owner-led matters because the best hotels are still made by someone who will still be there when you arrive. Our editors choose every place in the series. No hotel, resort, owner, management company or tourism body can buy a guide, sponsor it, or approve what we write. How a guide comes together is simple: we read everything the property publishes, check it against independent sources, and write what we found, including what doesn’t work. Every guide says plainly whether our editors have stayed, and we label Partner content when a stay is hosted or compensated.
