Your choice comes first
When you first visit, we ask whether you’re happy for us to use analytics and advertising cookies. Accept and Reject are offered side by side, with equal prominence.
Until you choose, and if you reject, no analytics or advertising cookies are set. We use Google Consent Mode. Until you consent, Google tags don’t set cookies or use identifiers, and they follow the choices you make.
You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

Advertising (only with your consent)
If we use Google advertising services, such as Google AdSense, these cookies are set only with your consent. They allow ads to be shown on our site, limit how often you see an ad, measure ad performance and, if you allow it, personalise ads.

Some advertising on our site is sold directly to brands and shown as a simple image and link. These ads don’t set advertising cookies.
Other third-party services
- Fonts. Our pages may load typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers and shares your IP address. No cookies are set.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, our newsletter provider, Substack (Substack Inc., United States), may use tracking pixels in emails to show whether an email was opened. You can unsubscribe at any time.
